Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureD-
Larceny in pick 187 lands the Packers a B-, Smith and all.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Packers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

They banked enough surplus on Smith to cover a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Henderson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick No. 9 they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick18 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In slot 18 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Fair-plus on Keon Coleman, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick43 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick73 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
A reach for TreVeyon Henderson in the 73rd overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick82 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ruke Orhorhoro at the 82nd pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick109 Rnd4 Tate Ratledge
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tate Ratledge. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick135 Rnd4 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at pick No. 135 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick187 Rnd6 Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith in pick 187 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick217 Rnd6 Chau Smith-Wade
Chau Smith-Wade slipping to Round 6, Pick 42 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick219 Rnd6 Jordan Magee
A premium they did not need to pay, Jordan Magee a notch or two before his time. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick230 Rnd7 Zy Alexander
A quiet steal in the 230th pick: Zy Alexander for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
