Grand theft in slot 205: the Lions steal Smith and grade out a B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Lions watched Ainias Smith slide 31 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They will need Mahogany to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Spending an early pick on defensive back with safety, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
