Draft Grade — Falcons

FutureB-
Durant should have been long gone. The Falcons pounced, and earned a B+. The Falcons ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Igbinosun pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, running back and other spots.
That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick62
Rnd2
Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. at Round 2, Pick 30 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick79
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
Nice patience on Keionte Scott, who had no business lasting to No. 79. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick89
Rnd3
Malachi Fields
Value with a capital V on Malachi Fields in pick No. 89, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick114
Rnd4
Harold Perkins Jr.
A slide stopped in the 114th pick, with Harold Perkins Jr. worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick126
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
A curious use of the Round 4 slot. Quarterback, running back and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Davison Igbinosun did not.
Pick130
Rnd4
Eli Raridon
A tidy little value on Eli Raridon in the 130th overall pick, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick168
Rnd5
Keagen Trost
Keagen Trost slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick195
Rnd6
Zane Durant
Zane Durant in slot 195 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick231
Rnd7
Zavion Thomas
Zavion Thomas at Round 7, Pick 15 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick246
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at pick 246 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick255
Rnd7
Fa'alili Fa'amoe
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Fa'alili Fa'amoe in pick No. 255. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
