A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bears: B. The Bears clearly saw something nobody else did in Logan Brown, taking him 55 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
That Warren pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In No. 10 they get a workhorse for the backfield at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Taking Tyler Warren in slot 39 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick44
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Donovan Jackson in pick No. 44, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick91
Rnd3
Logan Brown
A big swing on Logan Brown at the 91st pick, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick148
Rnd5
Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson in the 148th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at pick 149 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick183
Rnd6
Thomas Fidone II
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Thomas Fidone II. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick203
Rnd6
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in Round 6, Pick 27 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick233
Rnd7
Desmond Watson
Desmond Watson in pick 233 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick240
Rnd7
Ethan Downs
Ethan Downs in the 240th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
