SmithTimothy DRAFTING FOR THECommanders
The phones were a trap the Commanders kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.
Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The Gray pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver, running back and other spots still on the board. Every board in the league had Gray lower, and that gap is the story.
Jones falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left wide receiver open, and the grade is the bill.
