FutureA+
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Rams a B. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Rams took Michael Harris a full 61 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They banked enough surplus on Ramsey to cover a lot of smaller sins. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The Rams clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick40
Rnd2
Caleb Tiernan
They reached into another round for Caleb Tiernan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick61
Rnd2
Kamari Ramsey
Kamari Ramsey at the 61st overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick74
Rnd3
Will Lee III
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Will Lee III graded well above the range. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick78
Rnd3
Trinidad Chambliss
They talked themselves into Trinidad Chambliss at the 78th pick, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick93
Rnd3
Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields slipping to pick 93 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick113
Rnd4
Jack Endries
The board had Jack Endries higher than pick No. 113, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick154
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
Fair-plus on Chase Roberts, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick167
Rnd5
Isaiah Jatta
Isaiah Jatta in Round 5, Pick 29 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick205
Rnd6
Michael Harris
A big swing on Michael Harris at pick 205, well ahead of any board in the building. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick216
Rnd6
Dominic Zvada
A conviction pick on Dominic Zvada at the 216th pick that the board grades a round light. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick226
Rnd7
Trey Holly
Trey Holly at pick No. 226 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick232
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
They jumped the gun on Jordan Hall, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick250
Rnd7
Damari Brown
No edge and no loss on Damari Brown in the Round 7 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick256
Rnd7
Micah Morris
Nice patience on Micah Morris, who had no business lasting to the 256th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
