Draft Grade — Falcons

FutureB-
The Falcons robbed the room for Brooks. Final grade: F. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Falcons were there to profit. Tahj Brooks, the No. 117 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 237. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. If Helm pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Adding Travis Kelce by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left offensive lineman open, and the grade is the bill.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
A reach for Jalon Walker in No. 16; a little patience would have been rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick48
Rnd2
Gunnar Helm
A wild overpay on Gunnar Helm in Round 2, Pick 16, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick117
Rnd4
Daylen Everette
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Daylen Everette. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick237
Rnd7
Tahj Brooks
They will replay Tahj Brooks at the 237th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
