Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureC-
The Giants answered their biggest question with Ward. Grade: B.

The Giants spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Kaleb Johnson, the No. 41 name on the board, in Round 4, Pick 33.

Whatever Cam Ward becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

Reaching for White left real value on the table behind him. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In No. 4 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jack Sawyer
They barely believed it either: Jack Sawyer still on the board at pick 75. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick83 Rnd3 Jalon Walker
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jalon Walker in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick134 Rnd4 Kaleb Johnson
Somehow Kaleb Johnson was still sitting there in the 134th pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick157 Rnd5 Donovan Ezeiruaku
Donovan Ezeiruaku at the 157th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick219 Rnd7 Jordan White
A real head-scratcher, Jordan White in pick No. 219 is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick246 Rnd7 Garrett Dellinger
They paid up for Garrett Dellinger at slot 246 when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick256 Rnd7 Kyle Monangai
Circle this one: Kyle Monangai at Round 7, Pick 42 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
