Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bengals and Simon: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Cody Simon at pick 191 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If Ivey pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

Tight end was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
Fair-plus on Emeka Egbuka, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick49 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
A tight end of that caliber at slot 49 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jared Ivey
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jared Ivey well ahead of where he belonged. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick81 Rnd3 Xavier Watts
Taking Xavier Watts in pick No. 81 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick117 Rnd4 Dylan Sampson
Circle this one: Dylan Sampson at pick 117 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick130 Rnd4 Rylie Mills
The board had cheaper options than Rylie Mills at Round 4, Pick 29, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick152 Rnd5 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in No. 152 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick191 Rnd6 Cody Simon
Steal is underselling it; Cody Simon at the 191st overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
