Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Bears to a B-.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bears did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Davis at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In pick 1 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick23 Rnd1 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at No. 23 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany in Round 3, Pick 11 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick110 Rnd4 Tyler Davis
Value with a capital V on Tyler Davis in slot 110, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick122 Rnd4 Malik Washington
Malik Washington in the 122nd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick146 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
They let Kamal Hadden come to them and pounced at pick No. 146. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick239 Rnd7 Kurtis Rourke
They paid sticker price for Kurtis Rourke in the Round 7 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick248 Rnd7 Derek Wingo
They jumped the gun on Derek Wingo, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
