The Bengals let Williams fall and pounced. Final grade: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Isaiah Williams had no business being available in the 214th overall pick, and the Bengals did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The Andre Baccellia deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In the 18th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value.
Pick49
Rnd2
Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson at No. 49 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick80
Rnd3
Cade Stover
Cade Stover in pick No. 80 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick115
Rnd4
Cam Hart
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Cam Hart graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick149
Rnd5
Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan in Round 5, Pick 13 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jase McClellan
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jase McClellan. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick214
Rnd6
Isaiah Williams
They robbed the room for Isaiah Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick224
Rnd7
Evan Williams
A slide stopped in the 224th pick, with Evan Williams worth more than the price. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick237
Rnd7
Garret Greenfield
Garret Greenfield in pick 237 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick238
Rnd7
Tatum Bethune
Tatum Bethune at pick No. 238 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
