The Bengals cashed the board's mistake on Guyton: B-.

When a board-topper like Tyler Guyton slides to pick 80, you do not overthink it, and the Bengals did not. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick No. 18 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, and a steal at that.
Pick49 Rnd2 Jonah Elliss
Fair-plus on Jonah Elliss, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick80 Rnd3 Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton in the Round 3 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick115 Rnd4 Dillon Johnson
Dillon Johnson at slot 115 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick151 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden slid further than he should have, and No. 151 is lovely value for the cornerback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick173 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kitan Oladapo at pick 173. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick196 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
Nice patience on Michael Barrett, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 21. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick238 Rnd7 Joshua Cephus
A straight-up fair deal on Joshua Cephus at the 238th pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick254 Rnd7 Chad Lindberg
Chad Lindberg in slot 254 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
