GWG5 DRAFTING FOR THEBengals

Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bengals a B-. The Bengals spent real capital to be 35 picks early on Malachi Lawrence, and the board is going to hold them to it.
Getting Haulcy where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Kadyn Proctor
In pick 10 they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter at the 41st overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick72
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
They barely believed it either: A.J. Haulcy still on the board at No. 72. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick110
Rnd4
Malachi Lawrence
Malachi Lawrence at the 110th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick187
Rnd6
Josh Moten
Josh Moten at the Round 6 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick197
Rnd6
Oscar Delp
Nothing to complain about; Oscar Delp went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick226
Rnd7
De'Zhaun Stribling
They jumped the gun on De'Zhaun Stribling, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
