The Bengals cashed the board's mistake on Echoles: A-. Call it larceny. Will Echoles sat on the board until the 60th pick, and the Bengals did not need to be asked twice. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The cost of the Mandell reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
The Bengals clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
