Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

FutureB-
The Bengals robbed the room for McCoy. Final grade: B-. The Bengals spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Bru McCoy, the No. 233 name on the board, in No. 254. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Stover has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
JC Latham
In the 16th pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick48
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell in pick 48 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick80
Rnd3
D.J. James
D.J. James in the 80th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick116
Rnd4
Cade Stover
Cade Stover at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick153
Rnd5
Ainias Smith
The board had cheaper options than Ainias Smith at No. 153, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick173
Rnd5
Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett in pick No. 173 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick194
Rnd6
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson at Round 6, Pick 19 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick237
Rnd7
Kamal Hadden
A straight-up fair deal on Kamal Hadden at slot 237, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick254
Rnd7
Bru McCoy
They barely believed it either: Bru McCoy still on the board at the Round 7 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
