The Bengals did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

Nobody else had Hayden Hatten anywhere near No. 238. The Bengals did, by 63 spots, and that gap is the whole story. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The Cephus pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

The Smith pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, linebacker and other spots still on the board.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
