Overall

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Bengals. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Bengals started one anyway for Hayden Hatten, 59 picks ahead of schedule. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Landing Beebe that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
Olumuyiwa Fashanu slid further than he should have, and pick No. 18 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Pick49
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
They liked T'Vondre Sweat enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 2 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick96
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in the 96th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick114
Rnd4
DJ James
No drama and no debate, DJ James went about where he belonged in pick 114. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick115
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at the 115th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick151
Rnd5
Jaylen Wright
They took Jaylen Wright at par in slot 151, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick155
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
They jumped the gun on Kitan Oladapo, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick173
Rnd5
Michael Barrett
They went early on Michael Barrett in No. 173, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick195
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Pick196
Rnd6
Jaylen Harrell
Jaylen Harrell in the 196th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick238
Rnd7
Dwight McGlothern
Value said wait; Dwight McGlothern in Round 7, Pick 18 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick254
Rnd7
Hayden Hatten
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Hayden Hatten. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
