Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Ricky Pearsall got past him. The Bengals do not have to explain a thing at No. 237. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

Brooks has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. It is not that Turner is a bad player; it is that the Bengals had louder needs to answer first.

That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
