More right than wrong for the Bengals, and a B- to prove it.

There is reaching, and then there is Cooper Beebe at the 80th pick. The Bengals jumped the board by 31 and dared it to prove them wrong. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. However the rest shakes out, McGlothern at that price is a win they earned.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Keon Coleman
A reach for Keon Coleman in the 18th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick49 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
They paid a round early for Jackson Powers-Johnson in No. 49, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick80 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cooper Beebe in pick 80, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick115 Rnd4 Javon Foster
They jumped the gun on Javon Foster, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick151 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
No edge and no loss on Ben Sinnott in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick173 Rnd5 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at Round 5, Pick 37 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick196 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
They did well to land Gabe Hall in Round 6, Pick 21, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick238 Rnd7 Dwight McGlothern
They will replay Dwight McGlothern at pick No. 238 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick254 Rnd7 Arik Gilbert
A premium they did not need to pay, Arik Gilbert a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
