Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Bengals turned the phones into found money: B+.

Nobody else had Hayden Hatten anywhere near the 254th pick. The Bengals did, by 59 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

Carson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In slot 18 they get protection for the quarterback, outstanding value to boot.
Pick52 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin in the 52nd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick80 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
No edge and no loss on Cooper Beebe in No. 80; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick115 Rnd4 Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson in pick No. 115 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick119 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
A wild overpay on Ben Sinnott in Round 4, Pick 19, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick151 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen in the 151st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
They will replay Jaylin Simpson at slot 173 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick196 Rnd6 Matthew Jones
Matthew Jones at the 196th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick238 Rnd7 Dwight McGlothern
They reached a country mile for Dwight McGlothern at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick254 Rnd7 Hayden Hatten
Value said wait; Hayden Hatten in the 254th pick says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
