Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bengals checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Bengals never addressed interior defensive lineman, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

If Steele pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Pick49 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
By-the-book stuff, Kris Jenkins at slot 49 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick80 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Johnny Wilson in the 80th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick115 Rnd4 Cade Stover
Cade Stover in pick 115 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick151 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at Round 5, Pick 15 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick173 Rnd5 Christian Jones
A reach for Christian Jones in pick No. 173; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick196 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett in No. 196 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick238 Rnd7 Carson Steele
The board had cheaper options than Carson Steele at the 238th overall pick, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick254 Rnd7 Aubrey Burks
Aubrey Burks in No. 254 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
