Oz DRAFTING FOR THEBengals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

FutureB-
The Bengals checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Hayden Hatten, 47 picks early at slot 254. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
That Simpson pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick49
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
A premium they did not need to pay, T'Vondre Sweat a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick80
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at No. 80, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick115
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at slot 115 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick151
Rnd5
Jaylen Wright
They took Jaylen Wright at par in the 151st pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at pick 173 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick196
Rnd6
Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor at pick No. 196 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick238
Rnd7
Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern at Round 7, Pick 18 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick254
Rnd7
Hayden Hatten
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Hayden Hatten well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
