Oz DRAFTING FOR THEBengals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bengals: B-. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Bengals would have aced it. Hayden Hatten at the 254th pick is 59 spots clear of where he belonged.
For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Robinson to cover a lot of smaller sins.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Taliese Fuaga. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick49
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where Chop Robinson graded well above the range. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick80
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
A reach for Michael Hall Jr. in No. 80; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick115
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
They reached into another round for Ben Sinnott, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick151
Rnd5
Jaylen Wright
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylen Wright at Round 5, Pick 15, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick173
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
A tidy little value on Kitan Oladapo in the 173rd pick, a step better than break-even. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick196
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at pick 196 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick238
Rnd7
Dwight McGlothern
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dwight McGlothern this early at Round 7, Pick 18. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick254
Rnd7
Hayden Hatten
Hayden Hatten at pick No. 254 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
