The tape said wait; the Bengals did not. Hayden Hatten went at pick No. 254, a good 59 picks before the board was ready. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
