Draft Grade — Bengals

FutureB
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Bengals to a D. The Bengals lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. It grades a D, and the process earned it.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Harris proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The Mahlman value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick38
Rnd2
Landon Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Landon Jackson at Round 2, Pick 6 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tre Harris
A reach on Tre Harris in pick No. 41; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick56
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
Nothing to complain about; TreVeyon Henderson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick88
Rnd3
Dasan McCullough
Dasan McCullough in the 88th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick92
Rnd3
Josh Simmons
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Josh Simmons graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick124
Rnd4
Tyler Warren
A premium they did not need to pay, Tyler Warren a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick155
Rnd5
Riley Mahlman
Value with a capital V on Riley Mahlman in pick 155, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick156
Rnd5
Jaheim Oatis
They paid a round early for Jaheim Oatis in No. 156, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick220
Rnd7
Caullin Lacy
Good price on Caullin Lacy in the Round 7 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
