Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

ValueB-

FutureA
The Bengals checked most of the boxes and earned a B+. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jimmy Horn Jr. in the 250th pick, a good 82 spots before the room expected him. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
Getting Norman-Lott where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Bengals paired the rookies with proven help, Michael Mayer leading the way.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick38
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at pick No. 38 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick49
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
Nice patience on Tyleik Williams, who had no business lasting to slot 49. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick101
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott at pick 101 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick119
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
By-the-book stuff, Denzel Burke at Round 4, Pick 17 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick153
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
They barely believed it either: Kyle Williams still on the board at the 153rd overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick166
Rnd5
Jaydon Blue
They went early on Jaydon Blue in the 166th pick, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick173
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
They paid a round early for JJ Pegues in the 173rd overall pick, more than the board wanted. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick206
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
A tidy little value on Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in pick 206, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick236
Rnd7
Craig Woodson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Craig Woodson at the 236th pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick237
Rnd7
Dayon Hayes
A big swing on Dayon Hayes at No. 237, well ahead of any board in the building. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick250
Rnd7
Jimmy Horn Jr.
Jimmy Horn Jr. in Round 7, Pick 34 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
