Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Bears got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Bears shredded theirs for Jackson Woodard. He came off 118 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

The Parrish value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Mykel Williams
In No. 25 they get juice off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
They jumped the gun on Jonah Savaiinaea, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick40 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
By-the-book stuff, Jihaad Campbell at the 40th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick71 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
They let TreVeyon Henderson come to them and pounced at pick No. 71. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick72 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge at the 72nd pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Pick73 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
They took Mason Taylor at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick92 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
They paid a round early for Jared Wilson in the 92nd overall pick, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick102 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at slot 102 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick103 Rnd4 Brashard Smith
They liked Brashard Smith enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 4, Pick 2. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick119 Rnd4 Rylie Mills
Rylie Mills in No. 119 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick127 Rnd4 Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick137 Rnd4 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They reached into another round for Dont'e Thornton Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish in pick No. 149 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick167 Rnd5 Logan Brown
Taking Logan Brown in pick 167 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick180 Rnd6 Howard Cross III
A wild overpay on Howard Cross III in pick 180, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick187 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
Value with a capital V on JJ Pegues in the 187th overall pick, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick212 Rnd6 Jackson Woodard
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jackson Woodard in pick No. 212, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick235 Rnd7 Logan Parr
Logan Parr at the 235th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
