The Patriots did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Josiah Trotter fell into the 131st pick. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Sturdivant pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
