Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureA+
The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A-. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bears spent slot 232 on Rondell Bothroyd, a name the board had a full 44 spots lower. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. The Bell steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In the 9th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick10
Rnd1
Jer'Zhan Newton
In slot 10 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43
Rnd2
Jonah Elliss
They took Jonah Elliss at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick72
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
A clean, defensible pick in the 72nd pick with a little surplus value in Javon Bullard. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick74
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
No drama and no debate, Christian Haynes went about where he belonged in No. 74. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick75
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran in Round 3, Pick 11 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110
Rnd4
Max Melton
Max Melton in the 110th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick127
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Darius Robinson in No. 127. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
Nice patience on Jaheim Bell, who had no business lasting to slot 146. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick186
Rnd6
Isaiah Williams
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Williams in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick232
Rnd7
Rondell Bothroyd
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Rondell Bothroyd well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
