Draft Grade — Saints
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Saints and Neal: A-.

When a board-topper like Devin Neal slides to slot 185, you do not overthink it, and the Saints did not.

They will need Griffith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. The Saints clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Abdul Carter and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In No. 15 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick42 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at pick No. 42 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick74 Rnd3 Tyler Warren
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Warren at Round 3, Pick 10 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick77 Rnd3 Ajani Cornelius
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ajani Cornelius well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick80 Rnd3 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams at pick 80 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jack Bech
By-the-book stuff, Jack Bech at the 88th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick111 Rnd4 TreVeyon Henderson
They robbed the room for TreVeyon Henderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick116 Rnd4 Luke Kandra
They did well to land Luke Kandra in the 116th pick, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick125 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
They will replay Malachi Moore at the 125th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick185 Rnd6 Devin Neal
A running back of that caliber at pick 185 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick188 Rnd6 Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. at slot 188 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick209 Rnd6 Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at No. 209 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick253 Rnd7 Jared Wilson
The board fumbled Jared Wilson all the way to the 253rd pick, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
