Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Bears won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Bears should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

The Tupuola-Fetui reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The Trey McBride deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Joe Alt
Joe Alt at the 4th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick9 Rnd1 Jer'Zhan Newton
In No. 9 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
They jumped the gun on Jackson Powers-Johnson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75 Rnd3 Blake Corum
Blake Corum in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick110 Rnd4 Malik Washington
Malik Washington in the 110th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick122 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
A straight-up fair deal on Kris Abrams-Draine at pick 122, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick146 Rnd5 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at Round 5, Pick 10 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
