Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureA+
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D+.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The math is unkind, and the D+ follows.

They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. Reaching for Neal left real value on the table behind him.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
No edge and no loss on Caleb Williams in the 2nd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick11 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In pick 11 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick21 Rnd1 Jer'Zhan Newton
Nothing to complain about; Jer'Zhan Newton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick40 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick85 Rnd3 Zach Frazier
A straight-up fair deal on Zach Frazier at slot 85, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick104 Rnd4 Kiran Amegadjie
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kiran Amegadjie. It fills a real need, too.
Pick132 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
A tidy little value on Jaden Hicks in No. 132, a step better than break-even. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick141 Rnd5 Devin Neal
They went early on Devin Neal in Round 5, Pick 5, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick169 Rnd5 Ainias Smith
A clean, defensible pick in Round 5, Pick 33 with a little surplus value in Ainias Smith. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick182 Rnd6 Keith Randolph Jr.
Keith Randolph Jr. in pick 182 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick226 Rnd7 Francisco Mauigoa
Francisco Mauigoa in pick No. 226 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
