Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesC+ FutureA+
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bears: B.

Nobody had Richard Jibunor this high, and it is not close. The Bears reached 92 spots to get him at pick No. 228. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

Lovett falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Tyrann Mathieu pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick No. 1 they get a true top target at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick19 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
No edge and no loss on Dallas Turner in the 19th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick82 Rnd3 Adonai Mitchell
Nice patience on Adonai Mitchell, who had no business lasting to slot 82. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick83 Rnd3 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick 83 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick132 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
A conviction pick on Darius Robinson at No. 132 that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick141 Rnd5 Gabriel Murphy
Gabriel Murphy at Round 5, Pick 5 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick170 Rnd5 Gabe Hall
Gabe Hall at pick No. 170 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick182 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at the 182nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick228 Rnd7 Richard Jibunor
Richard Jibunor in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was not a hole anyone had circled.
Pick230 Rnd7 Dominic Lovett
Dominic Lovett at No. 230 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
