The Bears let Cowing fall and pounced. Final grade: A-.

Somebody in Round 7, Pick 5 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bears sat still while Jacob Cowing, the No. 185 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The cost of the Powers-Johnson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Adding Will McDonald IV by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
