Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bears and Muhammad: B.

Somebody in slot 129 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bears sat still while Malik Muhammad, the No. 74 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Hall pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In No. 25 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick57 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Caleb Banks in pick 57, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick89 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
They will replay Michael Taaffe at the 89th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick129 Rnd4 Malik Muhammad
Steal is underselling it; Malik Muhammad at the 129th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick166 Rnd5 Red Murdock
Red Murdock in Round 5, Pick 28 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick220 Rnd7 Riley Mahlman
By-the-book stuff, Riley Mahlman at pick No. 220 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick239 Rnd7 Jordan Hall
A conviction pick on Jordan Hall at slot 239 that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick241 Rnd7 Jaylon Braxton
Jaylon Braxton at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
