Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
Williams is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a D+.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

Whatever Caleb Williams becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.

They banked enough surplus on Dixon to cover a lot of smaller sins. They went 7 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
They took Caleb Williams at par in the 3rd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick 9 they get a home-run threat at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
They did well to land Troy Fautanu in pick No. 34, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick43 Rnd2 Kalen King
By-the-book stuff, Kalen King at the 43rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick75 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
Fair-plus on Ruke Orhorhoro, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick103 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher at the Round 4 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick122 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe in slot 122 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick123 Rnd4 Tyrice Knight
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyrice Knight at No. 123 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146 Rnd5 Johnny Dixon
They barely believed it either: Johnny Dixon still on the board at the 146th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick164 Rnd5 Layden Robinson
Layden Robinson at Round 5, Pick 28 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick239 Rnd7 Joshua Cephus
Joshua Cephus at pick No. 239 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
