Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D+
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesF FutureB
The Bears answered their biggest question with Daniels. Grade: D+.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Theo Johnson at pick 75 is 61 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Put together, it is a D+.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
No edge and no loss on Jayden Daniels in slot 4; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter. A real need, handled.
Pick27 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In the 27th pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
No drama and no debate, Jordan Morgan went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 3. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick66 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
They jumped the gun on Sedrick Van Pran, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jonah Elliss
They paid a round early for Jonah Elliss in No. 74, more than the board wanted. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson at No. 75 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick79 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at pick No. 79 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick111 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cole Bishop. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick123 Rnd4 Dylan Laube
A big swing on Dylan Laube at the 123rd overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick143 Rnd5 Mason McCormick
Mason McCormick at Round 5, Pick 7 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick199 Rnd6 Tanor Bortolini
A wild overpay on Tanor Bortolini in slot 199, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
