The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a A-.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Bears' quarterback, full stop.

That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

It is not that Solomon is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

They will need Smith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
