Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bears won the night they stopped Nwankpa from sliding. Grade: B-.

You build a draft on nights like this. Xavier Nwankpa had no business being available in Round 7, Pick 14, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Scourton to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In slot 12 they get a cornerstone up front, though they paid up to get him.
Pick40 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
The board had Tate Ratledge higher than the 40th overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick43 Rnd2 Nic Scourton
Nic Scourton at pick 43 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jake Majors
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jake Majors at the Round 3 slot is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick150 Rnd5 Simeon Barrow Jr.
Simeon Barrow Jr. at No. 150 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick203 Rnd6 J.Michael Sturdivant
J.Michael Sturdivant in Round 6, Pick 28 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick228 Rnd7 Xavier Nwankpa
They will replay Xavier Nwankpa at pick No. 228 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick244 Rnd7 Jake Slaughter
They barely believed it either: Jake Slaughter still on the board at the 244th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
