The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bears and Singleton: B. Somebody in the 147th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bears sat still while Nicholas Singleton, the No. 100 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Princely Umanmielen
In pick No. 10 they get a problem off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in Round 2, Pick 7 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick41
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at No. 41 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick72
Rnd3
Tyler Warren
A tight end of that caliber at pick 72 is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick147
Rnd5
Nicholas Singleton
Steal is underselling it; Nicholas Singleton at the 147th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
