Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA+
The Bears worked the phones like thieves and earned a A-.

The Bears went off the board in a big way for Trevor Keegan, 38 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Landing Melton that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The veteran additions, Lane Johnson chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Bottom line, with Malik Nabers leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick22 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In slot 22 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick50 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyler Guyton in No. 50. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick56 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75 Rnd3 Bucky Irving
A premium they did not need to pay, Bucky Irving a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick111 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III in pick 111 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick123 Rnd4 Max Melton
The board had Max Melton higher than No. 123, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick125 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in the Round 4 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick143 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at Round 5, Pick 7 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick213 Rnd6 Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan in the 213th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
