FutureA+
Nix is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: D. Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
Every board in the league had Laube lower, and that gap is the story. The whole projection now runs through Bo Nix; hit there and everything else looks smarter. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Bo Nix
They left a pile of value on the table to take Bo Nix this early at pick 11. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick28
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In pick No. 28 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in Round 2, Pick 8 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick43
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
Value said wait; Zach Frazier in the Round 2 slot says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick60
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
The board had cheaper options than Xavier Legette at the 60th overall pick, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
A tidy little value on Jaden Hicks in the 75th pick, a step better than break-even. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick109
Rnd4
Mekhi Wingo
A straight-up fair deal on Mekhi Wingo at No. 109, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick110
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Johnny Wilson well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
Pick111
Rnd4
Theo Johnson
They reached into another round for Theo Johnson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick123
Rnd4
Dylan Laube
Dylan Laube at pick 123 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick130
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
They paid sticker price for Mohamed Kamara in slot 130, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick143
Rnd5
Dallin Holker
Dallin Holker at the Round 5 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick198
Rnd6
Tanor Bortolini
A wild overpay on Tanor Bortolini in the 198th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
