Draft Grade — Bears
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA
Gould should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a C+.

Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.

The Gould pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Kneeland has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

If Rome Odunze and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick 6 they get a home-run threat at receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick No. 9 they get a building block for the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Marshawn Kneeland
A reach for Marshawn Kneeland in slot 75; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick78 Rnd3 Kris Abrams-Draine
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kris Abrams-Draine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick106 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
They jumped the gun on Matt Goncalves, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick109 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
By-the-book stuff, Cole Bishop at the 109th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick117 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 117 with a little surplus value in Isaac Guerendo. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick121 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray in the 121st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick191 Rnd6 Anthony Gould
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Anthony Gould in Round 6, Pick 16, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick235 Rnd7 KT Leveston
No edge and no loss on KT Leveston in pick 235; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
