The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a A-.

The search is over. The Bears handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Nubin falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The cost of the McCarthy reach is exactly the players who went right after him. With edge rusher, cornerback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on tight end is the choice that costs them.

Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
