The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bears and Sainristil: B-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Mike Sainristil tumbling to the Bears in Round 4, Pick 10 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 1st pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In pick 9 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Kiran Amegadjie
They robbed the room for Kiran Amegadjie here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick110
Rnd4
Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick127
Rnd4
MarShawn Lloyd
A quiet steal in pick No. 127: MarShawn Lloyd for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick146
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ty'Ron Hopper. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick186
Rnd6
Nathan Thomas
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nathan Thomas at slot 186. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick232
Rnd7
Jase McClellan
They will replay Jase McClellan at the 232nd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
