Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a A-.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Bo Nix is the Bears' quarterback, full stop. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

Whittington at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Bo Nix and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick5 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick23 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In pick No. 23 they get the arm they will build around.
Pick35 Rnd2 Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine at the 35th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick54 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins at No. 54 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick67 Rnd3 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at the 67th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick68 Rnd3 Cooper DeJean
Cooper DeJean is a better player than slot 68 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick87 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
Fair-plus on McKinnley Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick104 Rnd4 Malik Washington
They robbed the room for Malik Washington here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick132 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer in the Round 4 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick148 Rnd5 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jamon Dumas-Johnson in pick No. 148. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick169 Rnd5 J. Michael Sturdivant
They read the board right and J. Michael Sturdivant was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 33. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick182 Rnd6 Brevyn Spann-Ford
Brevyn Spann-Ford at No. 182 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick183 Rnd6 Gerald Mincey
No drama and no debate, Gerald Mincey went about where he belonged in pick 183. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick224 Rnd7 Tre Harris
Tre Harris in slot 224 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick225 Rnd7 Jawhar Jordan
A clean, defensible pick in the 225th overall pick with a little surplus value in Jawhar Jordan. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jason Henderson
By-the-book stuff, Jason Henderson at pick 232 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick244 Rnd7 Jordan Whittington
Circle this one: Jordan Whittington at Round 7, Pick 24 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick255 Rnd7 Xavier Truss
Nothing to complain about; Xavier Truss went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
