Whoever sat across the table from the Bears should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.

That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They banked enough surplus on Irving to cover a lot of smaller sins. The veteran additions, Keenan Allen chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Kool-Aid McKinstry and all.
