Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
The Bears won the night they stopped Lew from sliding. Grade: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Connor Lew had no business being available in pick 129, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In the 25th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick57
Rnd2
D'Angelo Ponds
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and D'Angelo Ponds at slot 57 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick60
Rnd2
LT Overton
No edge and no loss on LT Overton in pick No. 60; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick89
Rnd3
Jake Golday
They robbed the room for Jake Golday here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick129
Rnd4
Connor Lew
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Connor Lew in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick239
Rnd7
Kaden Wetjen
Kaden Wetjen at Round 7, Pick 23 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick241
Rnd7
Brandon Cleveland
Brandon Cleveland slipping to No. 241 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
