Larceny in pick 147 lands the Bears a B, Majors and all. The rest of the league will want that one back. Jake Majors tumbling to the Bears in Round 5, Pick 10 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In the 10th pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Booker at pick No. 39 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick41
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Kenneth Grant reach slot 41 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick72
Rnd3
Omarion Hampton
A running back of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 8 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick147
Rnd5
Jake Majors
They robbed the room for Jake Majors here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
