Draft Grade — Bears
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB+
Quarterback settled, Williams in the fold, and a C+ for the Bears.

The Bears spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Rice has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

So much rides on Caleb Williams that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In pick 1 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
A tidy little value on Jordan Morgan in pick No. 41, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75 Rnd3 Marshawn Kneeland
Marshawn Kneeland in Round 3, Pick 11 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick88 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in No. 88 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick122 Rnd4 Elijah Jones
A clean, defensible pick in the 122nd pick with a little surplus value in Elijah Jones. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick202 Rnd6 Drake Nugent
They went early on Drake Nugent in the 202nd overall pick, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick245 Rnd7 Bub Means
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bub Means. A need, and now a little less of one.
